In a class I am taking we swapped prompt cards and then made journal pages using one of them. I painted a simple painting with watercolor, glued on a smaller version of the prompt card and added my "story". I need more practice with watercolor, I know but it was fun to do. The fence was done with a Sharpie Poster paint pen since I didn't have frisket. I could have used gouache but the pen was handy and it worked.

Sounds like a really fun way to create a journal page - good job with the watercolor.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a good page - you got depth in color, good perspective, solid composition overall, and a story.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tip about the sharpie poster paint pen. So often goache doesn't show well, and this worked great!
I wouldn't guess that you hadn't a lot of practice with watercolor! I think it is a great page!
ReplyDeleteThose prompt cards are an excellent idea - and what a lovely watercolour sketch!
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job for your first attempt. The tree is very well done.

ReplyDeleteLove your post...so nicely balanced and I like the size and shape of your journal.
ReplyDeleteTimarra, good for you for trying watercolor! I love the soft, muted colors you used in your journal page.
