Browsing the internet blogs this morning I stopped at Nina
Johansson's and looked through her Brown Journal she is sharing there. You really ought to go look. I find inspiration there, eye candy and learn a thing or two each time also.
Anyhow, this time I saw an apple I thought looked easy enough for me to try in my own journal. I got one out and gave it a shot. Then I ate it and halfway through I thought I should have taken a comparison photo of it to my painting. So in the second picture here you can see the real apple compared to my painting. I then painted the core but didn't take another photo. This time you just have to trust me, lol!
This is very, very nice; and it looks delicious!

Great painting Timaree. You're just getting better and better.
ReplyDeleteHey, beautiful work! And you did the core (is that what it´s called in English?) too, that´s a great idea! You seem to have found the EXACT colours of that apple, and that sheen on it is exquisite! : )
ReplyDeleteI hope it tasted as good as it looks!
ReplyDeleteGreat job and nice journal page. I love that you included the photo of the real apple and your sketch of it--nice! :)
ReplyDeleteNicely done!
ReplyDeleteLove the coloring---would have recognized it as a Gala without the name!
ReplyDeleteAnd the eaten version is very nice---lovely balance to the work.
XXOO!!
Anne
Terrific job, and it looks luscious!
ReplyDeleteThe apple core seals the deal! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteThat is a tasty looking apple! Well, both of them actually. You've really captured the striations of color.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, indeed! You really captured the colors, sheen, and striations in that apple - and, I know it was delicious to eat, too! nancy
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sketch - and I love that you sketched the core as well! Those little stripes of red are so well observed.
ReplyDeleteWill taje yur word! :-)
ReplyDeleteJuicy spread!
Beautifully done! Great colors there. Looks as if you took it right off the apple!
ReplyDeleteWonderful job on the apple! I saw Nina's brown journal too...and WOW, I was amazed. I think I'll be doing a few of my own takes on her sketches too!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the apple! I love the lines on the apple and how you really captured the roundness of the apple. I hope it tasted as good as it looks! lol.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! The apple is beautifully done, and the core adds so much interest to the spread. I like the different textures.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing and a wonderful blog post!!! The colors, shine, everything are just spot on in your drawing and I love that you drew the core also. However, the STORY of what you did is the clincher, love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat page and beautiful apple paintings!
ReplyDeleteTerrific job with them apples! :) Thanks for your comments on my toe shoes. You're right, you can't find any green ones yet. And I just bought a red pair for my wife today she's so excited. Everyone should really give those shoes a try ;)
ReplyDeleteThis looks really great! The green background frames the paintings perfectly.
ReplyDeleteYour "Trip to the beach" book is wonderful!
You have a great blog, full of inspiring ideas and beautiful watercolors!
Beautiful! I also love your starfish and the shells from one of your previous posts. Actually I love every picture from your trip to the beach. Love those colors and the atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic post - your apple is right on! The green background was the perfect complementary choice! GREAT GREAT JOB!
ReplyDeletegreat drawing and colors! so juicy!
ReplyDeleteFunny story, Timaree, about eating the apple! Great sketch, too.
ReplyDeleteLooked at this earlier in time, but did not have time to leave a comment then. Awesome work here. I have been wanting to do an apple, and I have some stretching to do to measure up to this post. Great art!!!
