Laure suggested I add more shading to my hat to make the contours show up better. I did just that and like it much better. I reposted the old pic with the new so you can see the difference. Thanks Laure!
And remember everyone, Laure teaches watercolor with her Imaginary Trips where we learn to not only dive into watercolor, that scary medium, but learn to do things like shade objects better, sketch out our ideas and more. Any class of hers will only help you as you have fun while learning. Click on the Imaginary Trips button on the right side of my blog for more info. I'm just finishing another class with her and will be posting pics soon.
There is a big difference in the second drawing; it really does show the fold of the hat.
ReplyDeleteI would not have the guts to try a fuzzy hat drawing....no way! :D It's great!

Woooooooooohooooooooooo! Now that hat is rocking! LOVE the additional shading, Timaree! Nice work and thank you so much for the very kind words about the classes!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome Laure!
ReplyDeleteI agree the second one is better : it's more tridimensional. The texture looks amazing, it seems so soft! Wonderful hat and awesome drawing!
ReplyDeleteAnd your christmas card looks fabulous! I have the impression that each time I come to look at your art, you've gotten even better than the last time - where will you stop? ^^
Oh my! I was just away for a short time and look at all you've done! Your hat is superb and your Christmas card is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks too for the sketch group link- I'm off to check it out.
The holiday spirit is oozing on your blog! Very festive.
I agree, the second one is so touchable and the folds are great. Have a great x-mas timaree.
ReplyDeleteLove your willingness to experiment and explore. The shading in the second drawing really makes a big difference. Also rich colors in your Christmas card. Hope your holidays were lots of fun.
